THE SMOKE FREE (Premises & Enforcement ) Regulatins 2006 come into Force.

This new legislation will come into force in ENGLAND on 1ST July 2007 and will ban smoking in Offices,Factories,Pubs,Bars,Restaurants,Clubs, and Public transport.

The new rules will also put an end to smoking in the workplace.

The smoke free premises and enforement regulations 2006 state that premises are enclosed if they:

(a) Have a ceiling or roof, and
(b) except for doors, windows and passageways,are wholly enclosed either permanentley or temporarilly.

It also states that premises are substantially enclosed if they have a ceiling or roof but there is-

(a) an opening in the walls, or
(b) an aggregate area of the walls, which is less than half of the area of the walls,
including othere structures that serve the purpose of walls and constitute
the perimeter of the premises.
